Partial Withdrawals

Offshore Cash supports withdrawing only part of your deposit, with the remainder staying in the pool.

How It Works

When you make a partial withdrawal:

  1. Your original deposit is fully consumed (nullifier is spent)
  2. The withdrawn amount goes to your recipient address
  3. A new commitment is created for the change amount
  4. The change is re-deposited into the Merkle tree automatically
  5. You receive a new note for the remaining balance
Original deposit: 1.0 ETH
Withdraw: 0.3 ETH → recipient
Change: 0.7 ETH → new commitment in pool (new note)

Important Notes

  • Partial withdrawals cost more gas (re-inserting the change into the Merkle tree)
  • The fee is calculated on the withdrawal amount, not the total deposit
  • Your original note becomes invalid after a partial withdrawal — use the new note for future withdrawals
